The Feadship Heritage Fleet held its third rendezvous for members over the weekend of 17 and 18 June. No less than sixteen Feadships older than thirty years took part in the event, hosted by the Feadship yard in Aalsmeer.
The event started on the evening of Friday 17 June with a welcome speech by FHF Chairman Victor Muller. This was followed by the celebration of the 50th birthday of the Feadship Ammerland, the 60th birthday and relaunch of the Feadship Hera and the 80th birthday of the Feadship De Elft.
There were plenty of good reasons therefore to raise a glass or two during the traditional yacht hop as the various owners welcomed each other on board their Feadships. A further celebratory toast was made as the owners of Euros II and Maarten Senior II announced their intention to join the FHF and bring the total number of members to 63!
On Saturday morning the day started with the General Assembly, which discusses the policies of the association, financial matters and future activities. The members agreed to set sail to the Feadship yard in Makkum for next year’s Rendezvous. Studio Stomp presented the new login for the website which will be launched very soon – a place for you to find contact details of other members, edit your yacht description and share stories about your journeys.
After the Chairman closed the assembly, the FHF Historic Committee presented its research into the history of the Feadships Ammerland, Hera and De Elft. This was followed by a tour over the yard, offering a unique opportunity to see the very latest Feadships under construction.
After lunch it was time for the Rendezvous rally on the Aalsmeer lakes, which concluded at a location of considerable historic significance. Fort Kudelstaart was built between 1881 and 1914 as part of the defence line of Amsterdam and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A tour of the fort concluded with a special dinner for FHF members cooked by an Italian chef.
